Belize - Economist Intelligence Unit - The Economist

OVERVIEW: The United Democratic Party, led by Dean Barrow, holds a strong parliamentary majority following a general election in February 2008. A deal with Guatemala over a disputed border now looks possible. We expect real GDP growth of 2.8% in 2008 before a mild slowdown takes effect in 2009-10. Our forecast is for consumer price inflation to average 4.5% in 2009 and 3.5% in 2010.
